Sheikh Makan Castle of Darreh Shahr

Sheikh Makan Castle of Darreh Shahr

Sheikh Makan Strait and Village is located 6 km far from southeast of Darreh Shahr. There are remains of brick castle or building. This structure was built 150 years ago according to architectural researches and studies and belonged to Mir Seyyed Mehdi Khan Nami. Presently the major parts of the building have been eroded. But the entire building traces still remain.
In the western part of the strait and its bumps, a fence made from rubble and plaster is located. Architectural features and materials used in its structure indicated that this building belonged to the Qajar Dynasty. Between the strait was a watermill which is considered to be used once but now destroyed. It belonged to Islam Period or maybe before that.
