Ilam Springs

Springs are water resources of Ilam Province. According to Jihad of Construction researches, some villages use constant spring water and some don’t. There are more springs in Mountainous districts than plains. The springs are also used for agricultural fields watering. Some springs are guided to gardens fields if has a great amount of water.
Some springs which are far from villages have been watered the pastures and agricultural fields by canals which are called Galal.

Ahuran Mount of Ilam

Ahuran Mount is located 83 kilometers far from northwest of Ilam. It is 2120 meter high. This mount extended 24 kilometers long from Jozmanrud Valley to the southeast. It connected to Kuliteh and Kazetar Mounts.

Bankul Mount of Ilam

Bankul Mount of Mehrab District is located 10 km far from north of Ilam. It is 2304 meter high.
Murt, Kangir, and Abzangavon River originated from this Mount. This mount extended 30 kilometers long and 6-kilometer width from northwest to southeast and from southeast to Manasht. Kermanshah- Ilam Road is on the west side of the mount.

Sarkab Mount of Ilam

Sarkab Mount is located in Mishkhas District, 8 kilometers far from southeast of Ilam. It is 2120 meters high and considered as one of Kabirkuh Mounts of Zagros Mountain. Abaftab River originated from this Mount.

Banhar Mount of Chardavol in Ilam

Banhar Mount is located in Chardoval District, and 28 km far from northeast of Ilam County. It is 1820 meter high. It is connected from the southeast part and to Chenarch River from the west part.

Khofash (=bat) Cave of Dehloran

This cave is located three kilometers far from northeast of Dehloran City, on a hill near a valley and hot springs of Dehloran. Its name derived from the big bats lived there. This cave has grand galleries which some of them are 400 meters deep.
Khofash Cave of Dehloran is one of the historic caves of old times which now become a living place for bats.
There are lots of bats waste on the cave floor which were shaped during thousands of years and is used by farmers for their fields. This cave has been registered in Iran National Heritage list and is protected by related organizations.

Zinegan Cave of Ilam

Incredible Zinegan Cave is located five km far from southeast of Saleh Abad Town and 52 km far from Ilam Town. This open ceiling cave which is more than one kilometer long, has water, basins, and awesome icicles.
The weather in the cave is so cold but pleasant, while the Salehabad District temperature is more than 40 Celsius in summer. The temperature difference between outside and inside of the cave is about 50 Celsius. So it is also called Behesht (= heaven). Fern, Algae, flowers, wild plants, color of the stones, the caves zigzag doubled the cave attractions. This cave is one of the important places of Ilam which attract so many tourists each year.

Tayegeh Cave of Ilam

This cave is located two km far from southwest of Vari Village, in the river which has extended to south of the village. It is 15 km far from Malekshahi district. The cave entrance is 25 meter long, 120 meter wide and 33 meter high. The floor of the cave is covered by sand and stones and also there are some statistic and stalagmite raises both on floor and ceiling.
10-meter far from the cave entrance is a pool which is the place of winter floods usually pour in the cave. Some bats live there. This cave belonged to the Mesozoic Period of Geology.
The cave is wider at its entrance and become narrower at its end and extended to a place which is not identified yet.

Qolapikeh (Qale Pukeh) Cave of Dehloran

This cave is located near Mehran-Dehloran Road, in Anar Mounts of Dehloran. The cave entrance is so narrow and its first corridor is 40-50 meter long and the second one is 190 meters long and reaches a dead end.
The cave is 16 meter high, and its area is two thousand meters according to its vast galleries. There are some water wells in the cave which could be reached by rope and necessary equipment. The longest part of the cave is 300 meter and the entrance of people with the risk of heart attack is forbidden.

Dalav Strait Park of Ilam

This park is located in Islamabad –Ilam Road. And 25 km far from Ilam. It has lots of Pistacia Atlantica, Hawthorn, Oak trees and natural springs. It has a large area and is mostly visited in spring and summer because it is near the mounts and hunting grounds.
